US, Moldova To Develop Cooperation In Field Of Gas Supplies To Europe

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. The United Statesand Moldova have identified ways to deepen cooperation in the fieldof gas supplies to Central Europe, a joint statement by thedelegations of the two countries following the strategic dialoguein Washington, released by the US State Department, says, Trendreports.

The parties are reported to have discussed a“vertical corridor”that would allow the use of existing gas infrastructure to delivergas from terminals in the Eastern Mediterranean to Ukraine andMoldova, and ultimately to Central Europe via Ukraine.

It was noted that in April 2024, Moldova purchased natural gasfrom the United States for the first time, and it was emphasizedthat future gas supplies from the United States would strengthenboth the energy security of the Republic of Moldova and bilateraltrade relations between the United States and Moldova.
