Flash Floods kill four persons in Hadhramout E. Yemen


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ADEN, May 3 (KUNA) -- heavy floods swept through part of Yemen killed at least four people, wounded others and destroyed 11 houses in the historic city of Tarim, local authority in Hadhramout governorate, east of Yemen, announced Monday.
The public emergency room in Hadhramout said in a statement that rescue teams are continuing to search for missing people, who are likely to be under the rubble of collapsed homes.
The local authority in the Hadhramawt governorate carried out large evacuation, and rescue and searching operations for missing people.
Yemeni Prime Minister Mueen AbdulMalik directed the relevant ministries to coordinate with the local authority in Hadhramout to provide urgent relief to those affected, offer shelter for those whose homes were destroyed, take urgent solutions and fix roads.
Yemeni governorates have been witnessing heavy rains for days, reaching the peak in Hadhramout and the eastern provinces Sunday, causing flash floods that killed and injured many and damaged houses, roads, agricultural lands, and public and private properties. (end)
