Chinese economy rapidly grows in post-coronavirus

(MENAFN) On Friday, Apr. 16 The Washington Post said in a report that the Chinese economy expanded at an all-time speed during the first three months of this year, exceeding other key countries in its pandemic revival.

The country's economy expanded 18.3 percent annually in the first quarter, as robust local and international demands powered revival from a low base in early last year, the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the report, the second-biggest economy in the world, China has more than recuperated its pre-coronavirus activity, in spite of challengers provoked by the pandemic and U.S. ban on major Chinese industries.

Nicholas Lardy, a senior fellow at the Washington-based Peterson Institute for International Economics, stated as cited by The Washington Post that the country appears to have managed to counterbalance the U.S. sanctions with fresh business in other regions, preventing an economic separation called "decoupling."
