(MENAFN) Press TV reported that the Iranian naval force on Thursday fired torpedoes from the local Fateh(Conqueror)-class submarine, in addition to cruise arms from the seashore and containers on the second day of a large-scale drill in Iran's southern waters.
The accident indicates the first time Iran's home-made submarine has fired up torpedoes.
The cruise projectiles and the torpedoes fired artificial targets successfully in the course of the last phase of the massive military exercise in the Sea of Oman, codenamed Eqtedar-e Daryayi (Naval Strength) 99.
In the meantime, Deputy Navy Commander for Coordination Hamzeh-Ali Kaviani, spokesman of the maneuver, released a warning against any hostile "violation or encroachment" on Iran's maritime borders.
