(MENAFN)On Wednesday, the president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) stated that a formal negotiation procedure on the Cyprus issue can only be initiated for a solution based on sovereign equality.
The 5 + 1 informal assembly on Cyprus to take place under UN sponsorship is estimated to be held in February or early March, based on the conditions of the new Coronavirus pandemic, stated Ersin Tatar.
He further said that more than 50 years of discussions on the Cyprus issue have yielded nothing; adding the negotiations over a federation have been tired.
