Seven passengers missing in capsize accident near Hormuz

(MENAFN) Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) reported on Saturday that a landing craft container overturned in the Strait of Hormuz and seven people aboard went lost.

Esmail Makizadeh, deputy of Maritime Affairs of Iran's Hormozgan Ports and Navigation, was quoted as saying that the vessel capsized 25 miles (42.2 km) southeast of Iran's Lark Island in the Strait of Hormuz and hard efforts are ongoing to rescue the seven people.

On Friday evening, the Hormozgan province's Marine Search and Rescue Center received a message about the emergency situation for a Landing Craft, said Makizadeh.

Shortly after getting the message, a lifeguard vessel was sent to the area and necessary coordination was made with other Iranian maritime units as well as the passing vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, he explained.
