Kenya railways announced that it is going to give discount rates for cargo clients who operate on the Mombasa-Naivasha Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) freight service.
Kenya railways released a notice on Sunday in the local dailies that the stimuli tariff is going to take effect until the 30th of August.
The notice said that the cost for transporting a 20 foot container that is fully loaded from Mombasa to the Naivasha inland container depot is going to cost USD480 as the freight charges for the reverse direction is going to cost USD240.
Empty containers that are transported on the rail from the Naivasha ICD to Mombasa is going to cost USD120, according to the notice that announced the new prices.
