Africa's COVID-19 charts keep on surging


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RABAT, June 28 (KUNA) -- Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said Sunday that COVID-19 claimed the lives of 9,484 in the black continent so far with infections amounting to 371,548.
Africa CDC, the public health agency of the 54-member African Union, confirmed 94,388 cases in North African countries, 71,969 in West Africa, 137,028 in Southern Africa, 35,249 in East Africa and 32,914 in Central Africa.
Regarding the death toll, it said 4,007 people died of COVID-19 in North African countries, 2,477 in Southern Africa, 7,011 in Central Africa, 1,041 in East Africa and 1,248 in West Africa.
In terms of countries, South Africa is leading the chart (131,800 infections and 2,413 deaths), followed by Egypt (63,923 infections and 2,708 deaths) and in third Nigeria (24,077 infections and 558 deaths. (end)
