Jordanian-Qatari business council to hold Doha meetings tomorrow

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Oct. 28 (Petra)-- The Jordanian-Qatari Business Council will hold meetings Tuesday to discuss boosting trade exchange and setting up joint projects between the two countries.
The meetings, which are organized by the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) and the Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA), will kick off in Doha.
The Jordanian delegation, headed by President of the JBA, Hamdi Tabbaa, includes representatives of official economic institutions and business owners from the financial, educational, contracting, import, export, clearance and shipping sectors.
In a press statement on Monday, Tabbaa said the business council will present the investment opportunities available in Jordan to the Qatari private sector to "forge real partnerships" that serve the two countries' economies.
The delegation will also visit a number of Qatari institutions, including the port and the Qatar Investment Authority, he stated.
The JBA's President expressed keenness to increase Qatari investments in Jordan, as this step will have a "positive" impact on creating employment opportunities for Jordanian youth.
Noteworthy, Jordan's exports to Qatar last year amounted to $146 million, mainly in pharmaceuticals, machinery, electrical appliances and dairy products, compared to $117 million in imports.
