(MENAFN) Local media reported that, a fire occurred at the maternity unit of a hospital in eastern Algeria on Tuesday causing the death of eight babies.
Reports said that, the fire took place in a hospital in the city of El Oued Souf, 500 kilometers southeast of Algeria's capital city of Algiers, at 3:50 a.m. local time (0250 GMT).
Reports said that, eight babies have died in the fire, some burned and others smothered, adding that 11 babies, 107 women and 28 hospital staff were saved.
