2 dead in aircraft accident in Tanzania

An official said that 2 people died on Monday morning as their small plane crashed in Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania.

Tanzania National Parks Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner for Communication, Paschal Shelutete, said that "It is true a pilot and a passenger have been killed in a plane accident. The plane crashed shortly after it took off from the Seronera airstrip in national park".

He said that the accident took place at around 7:30 a.m. as the plane was travelling from the Seronera airstrip to the Grumeti Game Reserve located on the Serengeti Plains.

The official said that the aircraft was owned by Auric Air Services Ltd, a small privately owned airline based in Tanzania.
