Ethiopia: 5 killed after boat capsized in Oromia


(MENAFN) As many as five persons were murdered as a result of a boat which capsized in Ethiopia's Oromia regional state situated in the central part of the nation, an Ethiopian official emphasized on Tuesday.

On Monday, Guta Bulcha, Head of West Shoa zone, Oromia regional state, affirmed that the incident occurred afternoon when a boat includes 12 people on board transporting passengers on a local river sank, reported state media outlet Ethiopia News Agency.

Bulcha stated that heavy rains caused the local river to overflow resulting in the boat sank.

He also emphasized that many of the boat passengers have been saved, with rescuers searching for possibly more survivors.
