Kuwaiti hlth official: GCC medical equipment cmte keen on unified system


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, June 17 (KUNA) -- The GCC central committee for medical equipment's registration is working on measures to establish a unified system of registration adhering to international standards specification, said Undersecretary for medicine and foodstuff monitoring at the Health Ministry Dr. Abdullah Al-Bader Monday.
During the committee's two-day meeting in Kuwait, Dr. Al-Bader -- also a member of the GCC health council -- said in a press release that the step was to make sure that medical equipment used in the region would be safe and efficient.
He added that any medical equipment would not be used until a thoroughly process of testing for safety and quality would be carried out.
In regards to the committee's meeting, Dr. Al-Bader revealed issues pertaining to medical equipment and companies demands would be discussed during the course of the gathering.
The GCC central committee for medical equipment's registration holds six meetings during the year, focusing on various range of issues. (end)
