13 suspects detained over drug trafficking charges in Albania


(MENAFN) Albanian police declared that they have tackled down an international drug smuggling group, which allegedly trafficked marijuana, heroin and cocaine to European Union member countries.

An Albanian State Police confirmed that officers have detained 13 Albanians as another five have been imprisoned in Turkey and Macedonia.

They added that the group is believed to have smuggled 7 metric tons of marijuana, which police in Greece, Macedonia, Italy and Turkey have captured in the last two years.

They are also suspected in smuggling heroin from Turkey and cocaine from Latin America.
