99% Qataris in QLA's 12th cohort of graduates

Doha: The Qatar Leadership Academy (QLA), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), graduated its 12th cohort, which consisted of 99 percent Qataris, during a ceremony at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) recently.


The 21 member Class of 2019 graduated during an eventful ceremony in the presence of the Minister of State,H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari; President of QF Pre-University Education, Buthaina A Al Nuaimi; diplomats and several others. The graduating class included one Omani and all have been accepted to at least three international universities.


'This academy is distinguished by staff, programmes, academic curricula, performance and activity, locally and internationally. It contributes to the various activities and programmes offered by the government and private institutions, as evidenced by the annual excellence of our students in achieving the highest grades and ranks in various competitions, be it religious or cultural, and in sports, folklore, science and leadership. We have made the vow with determination to stay always ahead in driving towards excellence, said QLA Director Staff Brigadier General Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari. During the graduation ceremony, Hamad Jafal Al Kuwari received the Leadership Award, which is given to students distinguished in leadership, manners, and religion.


H E Dr Al Kuwari presented the graduates with certificates and congratulated them for their achievements. Most of the graduates stressed that they would seek further specialised studies at the police and military colleges to serve the country.


QLA, promotes personal growth in young men by engaging them in an environment that promotes excellence in academics, leadership, athletics and character to prepare the leaders for the future. Graduates from QLA have gone on to university studies within Qatar and all over the world.Their elected degrees cover everything from Criminology and Engineering to Political Science and Business and Management.


1st Lt. Talal Burshaidalumni of QLA academy in an inspirational speech, shared his successful journeyHe has graduated from the Saint-Cyr Military College with a Master's Degree in military strategies and international relations, and then joinedthe Ground Forces (Tanks Battalion) in the Qatari Armed Forces in the Ministry of Defense.


Ali Al Sarhani, the only Omani graduate of Class 2019 was the valedictorian during the graduation ceremony.


Speaking to The Peninsula, he said, 'I choose QLA because of its reputation and the international curriculum taught here. The four years I spent at QLA has made my personality stronger and unlocked the potential within me. I look forward to continuing my higher studies in engineering in the US.


Abdullah Al Rayiz, a Qatari graduate , said, 'I have received the best at QLA with a US diploma and all other extracurricular activities. I will join the Ahmed Bin Mohammed Military College and then hope to serve the country.
