Arab League vows more efforts to cement bonds with Africa

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, May 25 (KUNA) -- The Arab League on Saturday, marking Africa Day, affirmed the approach to solidify ties and bonds with African nations.
The Arab organization, in a statement on the annual occasion, said Arab-African summits had affirmed depth of the relations between the two nations through relentless efforts for optimum use of national resources for joint benefits.
Africa Day is an opportunity to shed light on achievements by the Organization of African Unity, namely its bids to tackle poverty, racial discrimination, colonialism and achieve African unity, it said.
"The Arab nation which is partly African also celebrates Africa Day," the Arab organization statement elaborated, noting that it is an opportunity to recall the struggle that distinguished the two nations' joint history and destiny.
The Organization of African Unity was proclaimed on May 25, 1963. This day is celebrated by the Africans each year. (end)
