Turkmenistan 2019 GDP to jump 6.3 percent: IMF

(MENAFN) Turkmenistan is expected to see a 6.3 percent boost of the GDP for this year, announced the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

IMF made the forecast compared to the 6.2 percent jump of the GDP that was witnessed by the end of 2018.

An IMF report confirmed that Turkmenistan is projected to stand at 13.4 percent in its inflation rate for this year from last year's 13.2 percent.

According to the IMF, "economic growth was affected last year by the moderation of public investment and bank lending and a more active use of foreign exchange regulations, which compressed private demand and imports."

It added "enhancing competitiveness and improving currency convertibility, moving to a market-based economy, and building human capital are essential for achieving sustainable, diversified, and inclusive growth, without a widening in external imbalances."
