Saudi Arabia receives 71 bids for IWP project


(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia is reviewing 71 bids for the independent water project (IWP) commenced in the Yanbu province, confirmed Water & Electricity Company (WEC).

In a statement, WEC revealed that out of the 71 companies, 30 are based in Saudi Arabia for the project which is using reverse osmosis seawater desalination technology.

International companies voicing interest in the project are including Canada's SNC Lavalin, Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas and Abengoa, and Japan's Sumitomio and JGC Corporation.

Meanwhile, regional firms are consisting of Egypt's Orascom Construction and UAE's Mubadala Investment Company.

The Kingdom is looking to establish a desalination plant with a capacity of 450,000 cubic meters per day.
