Amman, April 7 (Petra) - The Palestinian Affairs Department (PAD) hosted on Sunday the meetings of the Committee for Educational Programs for Arab Students in the Occupied Arab Territories, dedicated to the holy city of Jerusalem.

Sponsored by the Arab League, the meetings saw the participation of Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, UNRWA, the Arab Organization for Culture and Science, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Arab Radio Federation.

Head of the Jordanian delegation, Rafik Khurfan, said the Palestinian cause is the central issue for Jordan and the Arabs.

Khurfan noted Jordan will continue its efforts in support of the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and in particular the right to self-determination on their national soil conducive to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The committee's role is growing in light of the continuous Israeli violations, especially towards the education sector in the occupied Arab territories, he pointed out.

The committee discusses the challenges and obstacles faced by students and the educational process in the occupied territories in light of Telaviv's violations in this regard, and attempts to replace curricula with Israeli textbooks, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

The committee will also discuss the Israeli threats to shut down the UNRWA schools in Jerusalem.
