Maradona blasts current Argentine squad

(MENAFN) Football legend Diego Maradona slammed the current squad of the Argentine football national team, saying they were unworthy of putting on the Albiceleste shirt.

Speaking to press, Mexico's Dorados head coach Maradona described Argentine's recent 3-1 defeat to Venezuela as a "horror" movie.

"It hurts me because I feel Argentinian to the core but compared to past generations that had players like [Oscar] Ruggeri, [Gabriel] Batistuta, [Claudio] Caniggia... the current players don't deserve to wear the shirt," the 58-year-old commented.

"I prefer not to watch horror films but I don't know how the inept bunch who are in charge of Argentina thought they were going to beat Venezuela," Maradona added.
