Iran imports sheep from Romania

Iran imported 2,000 head of sheep from Romania on Feb. 12, said Hamid Varnaseri, managing director of the State Livestock Affairs Logistics (SLAL) Inc. affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture, Trend reports via IRIB.
He added that the sheep will be slaughtered soon in the slaughterhouses and sold in accordance with the adjusted market prices.
He said that imports of 50,000 head of livestock per week are expected, adding that the imports will continue until the meat prices stabilize in the Iranian market.
Recently, the price of mutton in the Iranian market has risen significantly. Thus, the price of 1 kg of mutton varies within 1-1.2 million rials (about $23.8-$28.5).
