Chinese Antarctic vessel hits iceberg

(MENAFN) Repairs have been completed on China's Antarctic research vessel "Snow Dragon," which was damaged in a crash with an iceberg earlier this week.

According to China's Ministry of Natural Resources, the vessel's mast and bulwark were damaged during the collision, which occurred at a slow speed of 5 kilometers per hour amid dense fog.

Snow Dragon is currently in the Amundsen Sea on the western side of Antarctica.

The trip is China's 35th expedition to the southernmost continent, the ministry said.
