Romania: death toll of influenza rises to 9


(MENAFN) Romanian Health Minister Sorina Pintea declared that two men have succumbed to influenza, raising the death toll of the illness in the seasonal flu, to nine.

The last two victims, a man, aged 40 from western Arad county, and a boy aged 17 in southern Teleorman county.

The minister added: "Every death is worrying us. None of those who died were vaccinated," however, didn't implement flu outbreak at this moment.

Catalin Apostolescu, spokesman of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases Matei Bals in Bucharest confirmed: "The only measure that can prevent flu is vaccination. Medicinal folk recipes, juices are totally useless, the only prevention is vaccination."
