UAE partakes in Arab ministers of housing meeting in Bahrain

MANAMA, 16th December, 2018 (WAM) -- Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, SZHP, headed a UAE delegation that participated in the 35th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Urban Planning, which was held in Bahrain.

During the meeting, several topics related to the housing sector in the Arab world were discussed, most notably the planning for the upcoming Arab Housing Conference, celebrating Arab Housing Day, and the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Urban Planning Award.

During the meeting, Dr. Al Nuaimi announced that the UAE will host the council's 36th session and the 3rd Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Urban Development in 2019.

The UAE delegation included Eng. Jamila Mohammed Al Fandi, Director-General of the SZHP; Eng. Khalifa Misbah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Housing; Sami Gargash, Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment; Khalifa Khadem Al Humairi, Executive Director of the Policy Development Sector at the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, and several officials from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the SZHP.

The 5th Arab Housing Conference, which was held under the theme, "The Public Sector's Future Role in Social Housing," highlighted the role of the public sector in providing social housing, as well as its future directions and visions, and the efforts of government organisations and authorities to involve the private sector in providing social housing.

Al Fandi participated in a discussion on social housing neighbourhoods, where she affirmed the importance of applying the highest sustainability standards in social housing and highlighted the UAE's efforts to provide smart housing services. Al Tunaiji also participated in a dialogue session during the second day of the conference.

An exhibition was also held on the sidelines of the conference, which showcased several smart housing services offered by the UAE.
