Oman- Dengue fever case reported in wilayat of Seeb


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Health (MoH) is conducting an investigation after the detection of a dengue fever case in Seeb. The case is not travel related but due to local transmission, the ministry said.

MoH in cooperation with Muscat Municipality is conducting a survey on the presence of Aedes aegypti mosquito responsible for transmitting dengue, yellow fever, Zika disease and other viral diseases.

In a statement MoH said, 'We conducted a field survey and found that Aedes aegypti mosquitoes were present in the wilayat of Seeb. This case of dengue fever was not travel related but due to local transmission.'

The ministry calls on citizens and residents to cooperate with the field teams involved in eliminating the breeding sites of mosquitoes and thus preventing endemicity of such diseases. 'We call on everyone to not pay attention to rumours and seek information from reliable sources.'
