U.S detains 170 immigrants over migrant children violations


(MENAFN) US immigration authorities nabbed 170 people between early July and late November who stepped forward to grant migrant children in government custody, which crackdown advocates explain would prevent relatives from volunteering to take in some of the 14,000 stranded children.

U.S Immigration and customs Enforcement spokesman Matthew Bourke declared that 61 among the detainees were listed as criminals while the other109 had only carried out immigration breach.

President Donald trump won the White House had vowed to tackle illegal immigrants and had demanded more violent enforcement to block migrants from crossing the US southern border.

U.S laws and legal precedent restrain the time migrant juveniles can be under custody, so those arrested are usually discharged their parents or other close relatives.
