#GamingBytes: Rocksteady makes announcements about future plans

Rocksteady Studios has provided gamers with fantastic titles like the acclaimed Arkham series.
However, since no news was forthcoming, after its last game, Arkham Knight came out in 2015, rumours had begun to circulate about its next project.
Recently, editor of Kotaku, Jason Schreier attempted to quell some of these rumours, as we reported.
Now Rocksteady has gone on record to clear the air.
Double barreled bad news for Rocksteady fans
Bad news
Rocksteady's co-founder and game director, Sefton Hill, said on Twitter that though they are looking forward to The Game Awards this year, fans should not be expecting them to unveil a new game.
He confirmed that a game is in their development bunker and fans would be the first to know when it is ready. However, he confirmed it is not Superman.
Why was there a Superman game rumour?

The rumours for the Superman game did not appear out of thin air. Observant fans had noticed a game listing titled Superman: World's Finest with Rocksteady slated as the developer.
It was logical to assume that this would be its next game. Fans also theorized that the developers would be looking to move away from Batman to the next high profile superhero.
The hiring that fed the frenzy

Although rumours started circulating the moment the listing for the game was seen, it was compounded by Rocksteady's sudden hiring frenzy.
It advertised over 20 job listings covering a wide range of disciplines like coding, community management and scriptwriting. All this pointed to a new game in the works.
Furthermore, several posts had a fixed two year period indicating the game's tentative release window.
Another one bites the dust
Fact
Rocksteady's official announcement is another nail in the coffin for rumours. Earlier this year, in October, we reported that Rocksteady had denied any involvement in the AAA Harry Potter game, being developed. It appears we must wait until they are ready to share the news.
