Egyptian, Palestinian presidents discuss Palestinians' conciliation


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, Nov 3 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi held talks on Saturday with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Palestinian and regional issues, namely the inter-Palestinian conciliation.
Egyptian President Spokesperson Ambassador Bassam Radi said in a statement that the two leaders' talks were held on margins of the World Youth Forum (WYF).
The two presidents agreed during the meeting on holding further discussions for unifying the Palestinians' ranks according to the reconciliation accord, worked out in October 2017.
Al-Sisi affirmed on the occasion Cairo's unwavering stance in support for the aspired settlement to the Palestinian cause, the two states' solution. He also pledged anew to continue backing the Palestinians' quest for attaining their rights and settling their cause justly.
For his part, Abbas reiterated resolve to tackle the Palestinian-Palestinian rifts and strengthen his people in face of challenges.
Cairo has been playing a mediation role to mend fences between the Palestinian authority and the Islamic movement, Hamas. (end) aff.rk
