Kuwait- Tender for installation of smart meters to be floated this month


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Oct 18: Central Agency for Public Tenders will this month float the tender for installation of smart meters for electricity and water usage after completing all the conditions and specifications of the tender, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to informed sources, the tender involves supply of 200,000 smart meters for electricity and 100,000 smart meters for water usage. The tender will be open for all the companies in order to extend the competition to the highest number of companies.

Zain Company is on the verge of completing the installation of 50,000 smart meters based on the contract signed with Ministry of Electricity and Water after it won the relevant tender.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Electricity and Water has started operating a number of wells in Shaqaya area following the theft of electrical transformers from 153 wells.

According to sources, the cost of each transformer is about KD 5,000. The ministry is now preparing to float a tender for purchasing new transformers in place of the stolen ones. They said the water from these wells are mixed with filtered water and then used to water the plants in gardens, wash cars and offer water for camels.
