Doha: Two skydivers from Qatar had a miraculous escape after their parachutes got tangled up while practising a complex routine as part of the World Parachuting Championships in Australia's Gold Coast.

The incident happened a few days back when the team was practising for the championship and heavy wind was causing chaos in the area. The men, part of the Qatar Skydiving Team, was caught on camera by one of their teammates as they spiralled down in a dramatic plunge after their parachutes got tangled up at 6,500ft.

The experienced skydivers, who have a lot jumps between them, managed to cut themselves free and deploy their reserve parachutes with around 700 metres to go and seconds to spare.

The coach and the rest of the teammates watched the two men spiral down for 26 seconds before they managed to get out of danger.

Coach Mikael Anderson told 7 News in Australia: "You have to push to the limit, and when you go over the limit, this happens.

News report quoted one of the parachutists as saying that they had trained for getting tangled up and practise what to do.

'If you know how to fix the problem, you will not get nervous," he said.

'Some mistake happened when we are ducking toward each other and we had a collision. We cannot fix it, we had to cut it out. We spent a lot of time practising. If you know how to fix the problem, you will not get nervous," he said

Despite the heavy wind in the area the four-men team from Qatar went back to practice the formation again and they took part in the championship which was held the next day.
