IAME X30 series: Shonal begins season with a win


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat-based seven year old talented go-karting racer, Shonal Kunimal, began the 2018-19 season with a bang as he claimed victory in the opening race of the six-round IAME X30 series at the Dubai Kartdrome in Dubai, UAE, on Friday.

The class II student of Indian School Ghubra (ISG) is competing in the Bambino category of the series. Supported by Oman-based Al Wahaibi Motor Sports (WMS), and coached by former Oman's go-karting star Sanad al Rawahi, Shonal impressed with good lap times during practice sessions and the race.

Shonal holds the trophy after winning the race in Dubai

After the race win, Shonal thanked his coach Sanad and Oman's rally great Hamed al Wahaibi, who owns WMS, for his support and valuable inputs.

Besides Shonal, Oman's Abdul Wahab al Habsi is also taking part in the same category.

The 2018-19 championship takes place over six rounds at the Ras al Khaimah Track, Dubai Kartdrome, Al Forsan and Yas Marina Circuit.

Besides the championship, the X30 racers will also compete in the annual Dubai O-Plate race.

The top-three finishers in each championship category of the IAME Series UAE will get a chance to take part in the IAME International Final, to be held at Le Mans in France.
