22 Sep 2018

Australian cricketers Steve Smith and David Warner were among the runs in grade cricket.

These two cricketers, who are serving a year-long ban due to involvement in a ball-tampering scandal against South Africa earlier this year, played their first games at home.

Warner smashed a century for Randwick Petersham in Sydney Premier Cricket.

Smith hit 85 for Sutherland in NSW Premier Cricket against Mosman.

Warner celebrated his milestone with his trademark leap in the air.

The southpaw looked in great touch in his outstanding unbeaten 155 run-knock.

His sublime ton helped Randwick chase down the target of 278 set by NSW Blues.

Smith's 85 saw his side post a decent total of 238.

Smith received a standing ovation both times while entering and leaving the field.

Since the ball-tampering scandal, the duo have featured in Canada Global T20 League and Caribbean Premier League.

These were their first games on home soil since the ban.

Both Warner and Smith were handed 12-month suspension by Cricket Australia.

The pair cannot represent Australia, the state teams and the Big Bash League teams during this period.

But they can play outside that.

On Friday, Australia head coach Justin Langer, backed the banned duo and said they will be welcomed.

"If our environment's right and they're playing well, there's no reason they shouldn't be welcomed back in to help us win the World Cup and help us win the Ashes next summer," Langer told the podcast The Howie Games.

Their ban would end before May.
