(MENAFN) The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) unveiled a 7 percent boost to have been recorded last year in the number of employments the private sector granted to Omanis.
In its annual report, the CBO stated "employment scenario has been very challenging, despite economic activity gaining a momentum.
The report noted "the employment provided to Omani nationals by the private sector, however, increased by seven per cent during 2017, which was notable given the limited employment capacity available in the public sector."
It added that the rate of growth in the private sector's total employment posted a slow down to 1.2 percent last year, compared to an average of 8.5 percent registered in the previous two years.
