Royal Cavalry wins three cups in UK


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- In a big world–class victory, the Royal Cavalry won three cups in three important races in Dubai International Arabian Raceday, which was held at British Newbury Racecourse.

Eighty pure Arabian horses competed in the race meeting including group 1 horses that had important world victories, stated a press release.

Royal Cavalry's Nafees won the main race after strong competition, while Hatrick won three cups. Brig Gen Abdulrazak bin Abdulqader Alshahwarzi, commander of Royal Cavalry, said, 'Dubai International Arabian Raceday at Newbury Racecourse is one of the most important race. Royal Cavalry won three cups, the most important of which is the main race where Nafees won.'

Brig Gen Alshahwarzi expressed his joy for the victory especially that Nafees is bred by Royal Cavalry and the victory came from a plan for breeding horses for international races.

Nafees won the sixth race and the main race, which was for pure Arabians, Group 1, and ran for 2,000m. It was ridden by Olivier Peleh and trained by Charles Gordon.

Alshami, a stallion, won the fourth race which was for pure Arabians, Group 1, and ran for 1,200m. It was ridden by Olivier Peleh and trained by Said al Badi.

Tharwah, a filly, won the third race, for pure Arabians, 1,400m, ridden by Olivier Peleh and trained by Said al Badi.

Nafees won the main race in Dubai International Race Meeting, Group 1, named as Shadwell Dubai International Stakes, Group 1 PA, that ran for 2,000m.

World renowned pure Arabians competed in this race.

Al Muwafaq, owned by Shaqab Stud came second. It was ridden by Julian Owg and trained by Thomas Foresey, while Mehdaf, owned by Athbah Stud, came third.

Royal Cavalry's Alshami, a stallion, won the fourth race, for Arabian, Group 1 PA, and Ahraz, owned by G M Watergan came second, and Sotreem, owned by Behretz came third.

In a photofinish, Royal Cavalry's Tharwah came first in the third race for three year old Arabians, named Diyar Race for 1,400m.

Filly Zo D Galllery, owned by Gofana came second, while filly Hddiyah, owned by Royal Cavalry came third. Stallion Laheeb, owned by Royal Cavalry came third in the second race for Arabians run over 2,000m.
