Afghan: military forces shoot five militants dead


(MENAFN) A military spokesman in the unrest province, Mir Wais Safi declared that the afghan army has shot five Islamic State (IS) militants, with a key commander Qari Zahid among them, dead, as another two were arrested in the eastern Kunar province.

Safi added: "Afghan forces have been targeting IS positions in Sidor area of Chapdara district over the past three days , and besides destroying the hardliner group's hideouts, we have also killed five rebels including notorious commander Qari Zahid,"

The security forces are carrying out operations to evacuate insurgents in Chapdara and other areas of Kunar, meanwhile two IS fighters have been wounded, and another two were captured.

The IS group, hasn't stated any details over the incident yet.
