Kuwait- KUNA underlines importance of enabling, supporting women journalists

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TUNIS, April 10 (KUNA) -- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) underlined the importance Tuesday on empowering and supporting women based on equality with men in all media sectors, including decision-making positions.
The remarks came in a workpaper presented during a seminar regarding woman working as decision-makers in Arab news agencies, organized by Agence Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP), in cooperation with Federation of Arab news agencies (FANA) and Germany Konrad-Adenauer foundation to support democracies.
President of KUNA Follow up and Coordination Office Hanan Al-Qaisi, in the paper, highlighted the big role played by KUNA in developing and improving media work since the agency's inception in 1976.
The paper also explained there are now around 50 women journalists working in various positions at KUNA's editorial sectors, including in the field, covering conferences, elections, and events.
In a statement to KUNA, Al-Qaisi said that based on her experience in working at KUNA since 1993, women do have equal rights with men, particularly through working as journalists.
"There are many women who I learned from when I joined KUNA, many qualified, experienced women who helped me throughout my career," Al-Qaisi added.
The seminar witnessed participants from Arab women journalists, several Arab news agencies representatives. (end) ksj.mb
