Pakistan- Disabled persons demand more jobs in govt departments


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR: The differently abled persons have staged a protest demonstration in favor of their demands on Thursday in front of Governor house in Peshawar.

The protest was led by President of disabled persons' organization FATA chapter Ayaz Afridi in which they demanded increase in jobs qouta from 2% to 5% in government departments, provision of free education , approval of vocational training centers at tehsil level and provision of monthly stipend.

The physically challenged youngsters and elders threatened the governor to continue the sit-in for many days untill their genuine needs are met.

The president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Khyber Agency Iqbal Afridi and member of Khyber Union Gul Nazir were also among the protestors.

According to a report issued by an NGO, there are 05 million special persons throughout Pakistan and 2.56 per cent is growth rate of disabled persons in the country while estimated rate of disabled in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are 03 million.
