Syria voices condolences over Algerian aircraft victims


(MENAFN) An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry expressed Syria's deepest condolences to the victims' families of the crash the Algerian military aircraft near the Boufarik air base, SANA reported Thursday.

The source said that Syria shares the grief and sorrow of the brotherly people and leadership of Algeria with deepest sympathy and condolence and prays to God for the souls of those who passed away in the crash may rest in peace.

On Wednesday, the Algerian Defense Ministry declared that 247 passengers and 10 crew members were killed on the crash of a military transport plane carrying soldiers and their families near the Boufarik airbase to the west of Algiers.

Reason behind the crash is not revealed yet.

The Iliouchine-type manufactured jet was in its way to Bechar in south-western Algeria, according to the Algerie Presse service agency.
