Kuwait: The participants of Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI) stressed the importance of the human dimension in supporting the reconstruction of Iraq. The European participants stressed, in a session on the high-level experts of the Iraq reconstruction program and the role of financial institutions, human dimension should be a priority as a result of the suffering of the Iraqi displaced people from the war against ISIS. European specialists in the field of humanitarian work reviewed a number of aspects of assistance to the Iraqi people. They confirmed the obstacles in Iraq are not restricted to reconstructing the areas affected from the war on terror.
However it expands to helping displace people and finding root solutions for them, primarily providing them with education, health and reasonable accommodation.
The speakers said the size of the damage and the lack of basic services has made living in those areas almost impossible, confirming the need to help the displaced and to facilitate their lives and work to return them to their areas after rehabilitating them. They called for reconstructing and concentrating on the health, education, restoring electricity and rehabilitating accommodation for the return of the displaced. They considered the human dimension one of the main priorities in reconstructing Iraq, in order to help nearly seven million people receive a better life, in addition to emergency food and medical assistance.
