Jordan- Interior minister oversees civil defece response to Aqaba ammonia leakage


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov 13 (Petra) –– Interior Minister Ghaleb Al Zu'bi was reassured Monday about efforts by civil defence crews to tackle an ammonia leakage that occurred yesterday at the Phosphates Company at the Industrial complex in Aqaba in which 30 people were hurt.

Zu'bi, who is president of the Civil Defene Higher Council, called on the Civil Defence Department's (CDD) operations and control unit, where he was briefed by its director general Mostafa Bazayea on measures taken to deal with the hazardous materials. He said his crews had swiftly tackled the leakage and evacuated the injuries.

The minister hailed the promptness and proficiency with which the specialized CDD teams dealt with the incident.
