Paris: public Muslim prayers protested over by politicians

(MENAFN) Within a suburb in Paris, French politicians of around one hundred have held a protest rally against Muslims publicly performing Friday prayers.

On a street in Clichy, around two hundred worshippers were interrupted by politicians who began chanting the national anthem while wearing tricolor sashes of office. Police made an effort to separate the two rivals, though it didn't prevent some clashes to occur.

Critics insisted that within the strictly secular system, prayers are an intolerable utilization of public space in France. Still, the worshippers complained that seeing as in March the space they used for prayers was taken over by the town hall, not many options were left for them.
