Russia, Iran to deepen ties in aviation industry

(MENAFN) After conducting a thorough review, Russia reached a conclusion that it's ready to supply 100 short-haul passenger aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 to Iran, according to the latest reports.

Russia has clarified that due to the lifting of sanctions, there are no formal restrictions on supplies, but since a number of components for aircraft are American-made, it must get approval.

In particular, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a modern fly-by-wire twin-engine regional jet, being developed, designed and spearheaded by Sukhoi, a division of the Russian civil aerospace company (UAC).

Moreover, a total of 64 Sukhoi aircraft are currently in service, with Russian carrier, Aeroflot being the top operator owning 26 airplanes, then Mexico's Interjet with 19 and Gazpromavia with 10.
