Taiwan's EVA Airways, Boeing close USD6b deal

(MENAFN) Taiwan's EVA Airways has signed a contract worth a whopping USD6 billion for 26 Boeing jetliners, making it the island's largest ever single commercial plane buying.

In more detail, the Taiwanese carrier will purchase 18 of the US top plane maker 787-10 Dreamliners, and two 777-300ER extended-range aircraft, plus the option to buy six more 787s.

EVA Airways is one of the two main airlines in Taiwan and currently operates more than 37 Boeing aircraft, and with the latest expansion it'll fiercely compete with regional rivals.

"Taiwan has a dynamic advantage in its geographic location, therefore we are very positive on the future development of civil aviation here," stated EVA Airways President.
