Edwards, driving for Roush Fenway Racing, won the second Sprint Cup instalment of the NASCAR season, topping an all-Ford podium in Bristol, with team-mate Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Aric Almirola (Richard Petty Motorsports) earning top-three finishes
It was Edwards' third win at the Bristol Motor Speedway, and catapulted him to third in the season standings behind Team Penske's Brad Keselowski and Hendrick Motorsports' Dale Earnhardt Jr
Keselowski struggled on Sunday, finishing 14th, while Earnhardt Jr did not fare any better, coming 24th
The Busch family's domination of the event may have ended for good, after neither Kyle or Kurt could add to their four and three wins respectively at the race
It has now been the longest drought of one of the Busch brothers failing to win in Bristol since Kurt first won the event in 2002, with Kyle most recently triumphing in 2011
Kyle Busch ran 29th, while Kurt was six spots further back
The start in Bristol was put back two hours due to rain, and 124 laps into the 500-lap event, another stoppage was caused by the weather - setting back action a further three hours
Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing) had the lead at the break, but flopped at the resumption, to finish 13th
