Pakistan Hands Over 141 Afghan Detainees To Torkham Immigration
(MENAFN- Khaama Press) The Ministry of Refugee Affairs of Taliban announced that 141 Afghan migrants, including women and children, were detained by Pakistani Police and deported to Afghanistan. They were handed over to immigration authorities at the Torkham border.
According to the report these migrants, including men, women, and children, were handed over to the Torkham immigration office.
report indicated that the detainees were from various Afghanistan's provinces, including Kunar, Kapisa, Maidan Wardak, Kunduz, Khost, Kabul, Baghlan, Laghman, Paktia, Bamiyan, and especially Nangarhar. Despite having legal documents, they were arrested in different parts of Pakistan and transferred to Torkham.
According to report, most of these individuals had been released from prisons in Islamabad, where they had served sentences ranging from 5 to 10 days.
The ongoing deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan is putting more pressure on infrastructure and resources, especially at the Torkham border, where many returnees are being processed. The large number of deported individuals, including families, raises concerns about available support for their reintegration into Afghan society.
With the rise in deportations and the challenges returnees face, international assistance is increasingly needed. Aid should focus on providing safe conditions for returnees and addressing the root causes of migration, such as insecurity and lack of opportunities in Afghanistan.
