Iran, Tunisia work to boost trade relations
(MENAFN) In a meeting between Samad Hasanzadeh, the Head of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA), and Imad Al-Rahmuni, the Tunisian Ambassador to Iran, both parties underscored the need to revive the Iran-Tunisia Joint Business Council. They also emphasized the importance of establishing direct flights between Tehran and Tunis as a key step in boosting trade relations between the two nations.
The discussion highlighted the need for the exchange of current commercial information between traders in both countries, which is essential for fostering a more dynamic trade relationship. Hasanzadeh pointed out that the current trade volume between Iran and Tunisia does not reflect the commercial potential of both nations, which can be attributed to a lack of awareness among traders about each other’s economic capacities and facilities.
Hasanzadeh further stressed the significant role of the embassies of both countries in facilitating trade development. He suggested that if the Tunisian Embassy in Iran could provide updated information on Tunisia’s major needs and identify areas where Iran could fulfill these requirements, it would significantly improve cooperation opportunities between the private sectors of the two countries.
The ICCIMA head outlined the diverse and substantial capabilities of the Iranian private sector in various industries, including food production, petrochemicals, steel, machinery manufacturing, building materials, technical and engineering services, and healthcare, particularly in health tourism. Additionally, he mentioned Iran's strengths in agriculture, the supply of agricultural equipment, greenhouse farming development, and cultural and academic services.
