Non-Oil Exports from Ardebil Province Surge by 68 Percent in 2024
(MENAFN) Ardebil province, located in the northwest of Iran, saw a remarkable 68 percent increase in the value of its non-oil exports during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year, from March 20 to December 21, 2024. According to Omran Ahmadi, the director-general of the province’s customs department, commodities worth $146 million were exported from the province in this period. This significant growth highlights the province’s expanding role in Iran's broader economic landscape.
The main exports from Ardebil during this period included industrial, constructional, and agricultural products. These sectors drove the province’s impressive export performance, contributing to the overall surge in non-oil trade. The province’s export growth is a reflection of its diverse production base and its increasing importance in Iran’s non-oil economy.
In addition to exports, Ardebil also saw a 43 percent rise in imports, with goods worth $170 million entering the province during the same nine-month period. This growth in imports reflects the increasing demand for foreign commodities to support local industries and construction projects, further fueling the province’s economic activity.
On a national level, Iran's non-oil exports saw an 18 percent increase, reaching $43.14 billion in the first nine months of 2024, according to Foroud Asgari, the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA). Petrochemical exports, which accounted for a substantial portion of this growth, reached 50.7 million tons, valued at $19.7 billion, marking a 33.25 percent increase in volume and a 32 percent rise in value compared to the previous year.
