(MENAFN) United States Stocks closed with increases Monday, excluding the Dow.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average recorded a drop of 128.65 units or 0.29 percent throughout the day, ending at 44,782.
The S&P 500 increased 14.77 units, or 0.24 percent, to hit 6,047.15. The nasdaq surged 185.78 units, or 0.97 percent, to close at 19,403.95.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the "fear index," declined 1.26 percent to 13.34.
Rare metals were in red territory. Gold dropped 0.71 percent to roughly USD2,661.90 per ounce and silver decreased by 0.3 percent to USD30.50 as of 2210GMT.
Oil prices declined nearly 0.69 percent, with international benchmark Brent crude at USD71.90 a barrel.
