Abdulla Alsharhan Named First Arab Judge For The 'New Dreams' Competition In Shanghai

Sharjah, November 2024: In a new achievement for the UAE on the global cultural stage, and with the support of the Emirates Publishers Association, the 'New Dreams' – International Little Illustrators Competition, held on the sidelines of the China Shanghai International Children's Book Fair, selected Dr. Abdulla Alsharhan, Secretary and Board Member of the Emirates Publishers Association and Founder of“Ajyaal” Publishing House, as a jury member for this year's edition. The competition recently concluded with a distinguished global ceremony.
Dr. Alsharhan is recognised as the first Emirati and Arab to serve on the jury of this prestigious competition, which included a select group of prominent international experts, such as Mr. Li Jing from China and Ms. Maria Rodriguez from Spain. He has contributed to evaluating hundreds of creative works by talented children from around the world, with over 100 pieces selected and showcased at the exhibition.
The Emirates Publishers Association played a pivotal role in facilitating Dr. Alsharhan's participation and promoting cultural diversity within the jury. This reflects EPA's commitment to supporting its members and empowering them to strengthen their presence in cultural and creative arenas both locally and internationally. It is in alignment with EPA's ongoing efforts to solidify Emirati and Arab cultural representation globally and foster cultural collaboration between nations.
Alsharhan expressed his pride in this achievement and his gratitude for the pivotal role played by The Emirates Publishers Association in empowering and supporting Emirati publishers. This year's edition was held under the theme“Embracing the World and the Future,” focusing on encouraging children to express their visions of the world through drawing and writing. The initiative aimed to enhance their understanding of the world around them, inspiring them to pursue their aspirations.
