Russia To Pipe Its Gas To Iran Via Azerbaijan - Ambassador


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19. The works on the project of exchange of Russian gas to Iran via Azerbaijan are underway, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali told local media, Trend reports.

He believes that Russia has its eye on the ball when it comes to pouring money into Iran's energy projects.

The Iranian ambassador mentioned that Russia is looking to join forces with Iran for a Natural gas swap. Discussions are ongoing. The dust has settled on most of the discussions, and a few loose ends will be tied up in the not-so-distant future.

Iran also in his turn is interested in revitalizing the North-South energy corridor. Iran is all set to hit the ground running with multilateral gas agreements and is ready to swap gas in cahoots with countries like Russia. Iran believes that the key target countries in the North-South energy corridor are Türkiye, Iraq, Pakistan, India, and countries south of the Persian Gulf.

To note, Russia and Iran are the world's No. 1 and No. 2 gas reserves. Cooperation between these two countries can contribute to the energy sector of the region and the world.
